Ten Grateful Moments
Yesterday was a pretty typical Sunday for the Joneses: The morning was rushed and the rest of the day was relaxing. Throughout the day I noticed that different little things made me think about being grateful. I think that's a good sign, because not only am I thinking about what makes me grateful in retrospect, I'm also feeling grateful in those moments.
Day 10. Today I am grateful for a day full of little moments that add up to a really blessed day.
This morning I made breakfast burritos for my family. I sautéed a yellow pepper and half an onion and put them in the scrambled eggs. I was happy that Josie gobbled up her breakfast burrito, not seeming to be aware of the peppers (which she says she doesn't like) in her eggs. The other kids liked their breakfast too. Grateful moment number one.
Justin and I usually have good teamwork on Sunday mornings to get the kids ready for church. We made it just on time, which is better than late! Grateful moment number two.
Today for lunch, I decided to experiment. I knew that I had chopped up chicken, leftover pasta and uncooked fresh broccoli. I decided to make a cheese sauce and make cheesy chicken and broccoli pasta. Justin and I thought it was great. The kids, surprisingly, not as much. But, even so, I am proud of my resourcefulness, so I will count that as grateful moment number three.
After I got Margo and Piper down for their naps, I got comfortable on the couch, and attempted to take a snooze myself. I don't think I actually fell asleep, but I did have a very nice rest. Grateful moment number four.
At one point while I was relaxing, Josie came to serenade me with "The Twelve Days of Christmas," during which she tooted, and we both had a good laugh. Grateful moment number five.
Dinner was leftovers or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so no cooking for me! Grateful moment number six.
I took this cute little video of Piper last night:
Grateful moment number seven.
Josie, Margo and I read a nonfiction book about kangaroos while Deuce snoozed. Josie also fell asleep while I read. Grateful moment number eight.
Justin and I watched a show (another episode of Making a Murderer) together, while eating ice cream. Grateful (yet decidedly unhealthy) moment number nine.
We went to bed relatively early, and I was probably asleep shortly after 10. Grateful moment number ten.
