Last Minute Plans

Day 7.

Today I'm thankful for last minute plans.

This morning, I got a text from my friend, Sam, letting me know that today is a free day at the Milwaukee Public Museum, and that it might be a good day for an outing. I thought about it, and decided that I could take Margo and Piper and spend a couple hours at the museum with Sam and her kids. I also thought it would be fun to take Josie and Deuce later after school. Plus, Justin agreed to come home early from work, so I didn't have to worry about having to wake up the girls from their naps too early.

I'd originally though about getting to the museum at 9:30, but then realized I couldn't leave the house in its current state. So, I cleaned up the kitchen, tidied up the living room, folded some laundry... Once I got the first floor presentable, I packed lunch, and got the girls ready to leave. We got to the MPM around 10:30, and met Sam, her kids, her friend, Rebecca, and her kids in the food court area. We walked around through the Streets of Old Milwaukee first.

Here's one shot from this morning. I love how Piper is cheesing it up in the background!

We walked around the museum for a while more, mostly on the third floor. Margo seemed interested in a lot of the exhibits, but we were moving pretty fast, so I don't think she was able to really appreciate what she saw. And then around noon, had lunch. By the time we were finished, it was 12:30. So we decided to leave then so I could get the girls down for a nap. Even though it was a short visit, it was nice to see Sam and take Margo and Piper out!

I thought Josie and Deuce would enjoy a surprise trip to the IMAX theater at the museum. So we went straight from school to the museum. There was a movie called the Deep Sea Challenge, and I thought they'd like the underwater scenery. Too bad I didn't research the movie, and it turned out to be mostly about the submarine, and very little about marine life. I knew I'd made a mistake when Josie said, "it's taking forever," and Deuce said, "I'm ready to go home." Sheesh! You try to do something nice... Although, later when I asked, Deuce said it was interesting, but Josie said it was boring. haha Justin said, "you can't always pick a good one."

Anyway, after the film, we walked around the museum for a little bit. There really is so much to see there, and impossible to take it all in in one visit. I would definitely like to go more frequently, but not sure about getting a membership. It's definitely something to think about.

All in all it was a good, spontaneous day!
