Margaret Actually Jones
Day 13. I am grateful for my daughter, Margo.
If I had to describe Margo in one word it would be: LOUD. She was a loud baby, she was a loud toddler, and now she's a loud little girl. She's loud when she's happy, and she's even louder when she's throwing a fit. And let me tell you, little Miss Margo throws a lot of fits.
Margo is also smart. She learned how to speak quite a bit earlier than Josie and Deuce, and she has seemed "with it" from an early age.
She's so pretty with her cute face and her long flowing hair and even her missing teeth.
Sometimes Margo is a nutcase. It really amazes me what she insists on fighting for. You know, totally reasonable things like, not getting to put the cinnamon on her own toast. She fights me a lot, but I've learned to find humor in the craziness. And of course, I discipline as necessary.
She's sweet. She's quick to give hugs and kisses, and she's helpful. When she knows that I'm cleaning up the house, she often volunteers to help. So I give her little tasks.
She's consistent about some things. Every day, she takes her nap at about the same time. But first, she goes potty, picks out a story for me to read, and sets her visual timer for 55 minutes. Don't you dare set it for 30 minutes or any other amount of time. It's gotta be 55. Haha
But what I really want to talk about is how funny Margo is. Let's see if I can remember some of the best more recent gems.
1. When asked to say her whole name, Margo used to reply "Margaret Actually Jones." It wasn't until recently that she was able to pronounce Ashley correctly, hence the title of this blog post.
2. Margo has started saying "tah done!" when she finishes something she's proud of.
3. The other day, I was coming down the stairs from our bedroom to the second floor, where Margo was, and she looked at me and said, "Oh no you don't!" and rushed down to the first floor. As soon as she got there, she exclaimed, "Oh yes I did!" haha
4. She has the funniest reasons for things. Here are a few of my favorites:
a. Going to bed. "I don't want to go to bed, because I don't like purple (her bed is purple). I only like 3 colors. Pink and blue and yellow.
b. Getting dressed. "I don't want to wear the shirt. I don't like birds. I don't like animals that are in the sky." "Do you like airplanes?" "I don't like anything that is in the air!"
c. Sharing a bed with Josie. "I don't like sisters. Only babies... and brothers...and grownups. And also Daddy." LOL That one cracked me up. I love how Daddy is in his own category. Haha!
I often wonder what the kids will be like when they're teenagers and older. I'm pretty sure that Margo will give Justin and me the hardest time when she's a teenager. She's going to push buttons and break rules, but I pray that the Diva-attitude doesn't last that long. Lord.... haha
As much of a challenge as she is at times, I am truly grateful for my third born (I was a third born too!). I'm sure there's lots more I could write about her, and I probably will this year. She's a hoot, and I'm sure she'll give me more material sooner than later!
