Five More

Okay, here we go again!

Day 37. I'm thankful for date afternoon/night with Justin! Also, burgers!

Shortly after noon, we decided to go get a bite to eat before going to the movie theater in New Berlin. We were going to check out Matty's Bar & Grille, but the parking lot was packed, so we knew it would be busy inside. We ended up stopping at Bosch's Tavern in Hales Corners and ordered burgers. I got the Cowboy burger, which was SO delicious! Burger, cheese, onion ring, and barbecue pulled pork.  Plus I got some yummy sweet potato fries. I would definitely eat there again. Yum!

We still had some time to kill before the movie, so we shopped a bit at Dunham's. I got a new pair of workout pants (which I definitely need based on my recent eating habits. Just wait. It gets worse), and Justin grabbed a kid's mitt and ball for Deuce.

The movie we watched was Mockingjay Part 2, and unfortunately, it was kinda lame. It was definitely not as good as the other three in the series, but oh well. After the movie, we drove to Bay View to Honeypie... for some pie of course! Unfortunately, a Saturday at 7ish is a busy busy time in Bay View, so we got our pie to go. There were lots of delicious pies on the menu board, but most of them were sold out. We went with chocolate pie, which probably had like 1,000+ calories in the slice. It was yummy though!

I love hanging out with my husband!

Day 38. I'm grateful for Deuce, and getting to celebrate his birthday with family. The Super Bowl is okay too.

Sunday morning, Justin and I went to church by ourselves, which is always a treat. We didn't get to stay and chat after service, because we had some errands to run, and I needed to get ready for Deuce's birthday gathering.

Justin's dad, stepmom, two sisters and their fiancés came about 2:30 to celebrate, and they stayed for a couple of hours. Plus Judy was still here.

I made a really delicious chocolate cake from scratch. It was a new recipe from Pinterest... Three layers with chocolate ganache in between and on top. The cake was perfectly moist and had a bold chocolate flavor, and wasn't overly sweet. It is for sure going to be my go-to cake recipe from now on.

Deuce got some great gifts: his baseball mitt, walkie talkies, light sabers, and a couple of books to name a few things. The light sabers are a hit with all the kids! Also, I should mention that Deuce is a really great kid. Love him so much!

Shortly after everyone (Except Judy) left, the Browns showed up to watch the Super Bowl with us. It was nice having Judy here, because she kept an eye on all the kids so we could hang out in the basement. It's always great to spend time with Jeremy and Raven! They're such good friends!

Day 39. I'm thankful for empanadas with Mo.

Mo and I were supposed to go out on Sunday night, but I'm an idiot and double booked Sunday night. Thankfully, her schedule was free Monday evening, so we decided to go out for dessert. We ended up going to La Masa, and empanada bar. We each got the two different sweet empanadas - nutella banana and ricotta chocolate chip - with a couple (tiny) scoops of ice cream. They were very tasty, and I would be interested to try some of the other savory empanadas another time. We sat and chatted for a couple hours, which is always so nice.

After dessert with Mo, I stopped at Walmart and bought ingredients for Deuce's birthday treats for school. I made scotcharoos, which have an incredible amount of sugar in them! Also, they're delicious.

Day 40. I'm grateful for a relaxing Colectivo morning.

After I dropped off the kids at school, I took advantage of my last morning without responsibilities by sitting on my rear end at Colectivo for hours. I brought my bible and just read and studied on my own until Mo showed up shortly before 9 to keep me company and stayed for about 45 minutes. It was basically a continuation of the previous night's date. Then, my new friend Jess popped in to hang out with me for a while before going out for lunch with her mom. I ended up staying until noon, because I'd already paid for parking, and just enjoyed more quiet time. I hardly got any steps in yesterday morning, but I sure got lots of relaxation in!

Margo, Piper and I took Judy to the train station around 2:20, and then immediately went to pick up the other two from school. We had an easy dinner, and then headed to Spanish class. The Thunderclouds were supposed to watch the kids while we had class, but they're whole family was sick, so the Curros watched them again.

And yes, yesterday was Deuce's 6th birthday, but since we celebrated on Sunday, we didn't celebrate on Tuesday too, other than his little celebration in class.

Day 41. I'm thankful for the occasional urge to purge that I get.

Piper has been a little under the weather lately with a cold. Last night she woke up several times and just really seemed to not feel well. When I saw that the temperature was going to be >10, I asked Justin if he could take the kids to school. He did, and he picked them up. Both Margo and Piper slept in quite a bit later than they normally do.

That gave me lots of time to get some tidying, organizing and purging done! I'd actually started purging on Saturday morning before Justin and I went out, but today was a very productive day overall. I got over 10,000 steps, and I didn't exercise! Anyway, on Saturday, I purged and organized our bedroom closet and bathroom drawers, as well as the pantry in the kitchen. Today, I went through the kids' dresser and took out anything that didn't fit or was getting too worn. I also set aside toys to be donated from their closets and Deuce's built-in bookshelves. Downstairs, I cleaned up and organized the kids' coloring corner, which involved cleaning out the desk, purging coloring books, organizing the crayons, colored pencils and markers, and stacking up the coloring books and art pads. That area can get so messy so fast, so I've got to stay on top of it. I've got bags of clothes lying around and boxes of toys and kitchen supplies all ready to be donated. Once I get all of that out of the house, I think I'll feel better. Oh yeah, and I processed all the mail and recent school papers. I love getting all that paper clutter taken care of!

Staying on top of the clutter is going to be an ongoing battle! I still need to go through the kids' school papers and decide what to do with them. I've been keeping almost everything with the intention of going through it all later. I'd like to get a storage bin for each child to keep their favorite school projects over the years. I found some on Amazon that look like they'd work well.

Anyway, it's way past my bedtime! But, I feel good knowing that I'm caught up on my blog!
