Another Catch-Up Post

Bah! I'm getting worse! I really do think about being more grateful each day, so that's good. But if I don't write about it that day, I risk forgetting! So now I have five days that I have to remember what caused me to feel grateful

Day 32. Well-behaved kids at church make me happy.

Justin found out that he had strep on Monday. As I mentioned yesterday, we had an evangelist in town doing special services, and I really wanted to go. I knew that I couldn't have the kids at home with Justin being contagious, so I hauled them all to church with me. And they were so good. Well, perhaps I should clarify: Josie and Deuce fell asleep before 8, and were still and quiet the rest of the service. Margo and Piper were relatively quiet and cooperative too. It was just so nice to be able to listen to the sermon with minimal distractions.

Day 33. I'm thankful for Nicole Curro for being one of our Tuesday night babysitters.

I'm really enjoying going to Spanish class with Justin (even though we've only been to two so far), and we couldn't do that without babysitters. One of my friends from church has willingly sacrificed four Tuesdays in eight weeks to have our four kiddos invade their home for a couple hours. I really appreciate that she is keeping our kids safe while Justin and I can go to class.

Day 34. I found a new workout video on YouTube that was a lot of fun.

Actually, I did two of them. The girl's name is Bipasha Basu, and she's super fit and gorgeous. The first video was 30 minutes long and was dance aerobics with some Bollywood moves at the end. It was really fun. The second was mostly exercise moves, with a lot of plyometrics. I had to modify quite a bit, but it was still fun. I'd like to see if she has more workout videos on YouTube.

Day 35. Judy's in town!

My MIL loves sending Justin and me off so we can do our thing and she can spend time with the grandkids. It's a win-win! She'll be here until Tuesday afternoon, and I've got a few things planned.

Day 36. It was a really good day today, and I'm thankful for all of it.

I spent the whole day out of the house, and it was awesome. I took Josie and Deuce to school first, and then went to Colectivo to meet another school mom, Jess, for coffee. She's the leader of the brand new Daisy troop at school, and her daughter is in Deuce's class at school. We recently started texting, so we've been getting to know each other a little better. We sat and chatted for a couple of hours, and then I invited myself over to her place. She and her boyfriend have been renovating a warehouse into an open-concept loft home. It's definitely a work in progress, but it was so cool to see and get an idea of what the finished product will be. After talking and hanging out at their place, we went to ReStore, a Habitat for Humanity resale shop. It was a cool place that I would love to go to again. It was really nice hanging out with Jess this morning and getting to know her even better!

Justin and I decided to meet for lunch at 1:00 at the Ale House in the Third Ward, and with over an hour of time to kill I decided to go to the Third Ward, find a parking spot and walk around a bit. I popped in and out of a couple stores and then hit the jackpot at Retique, another resale shop. This one is a Goodwill store, and had tons of really nice clothes that were priced super reasonably. I tried on like half a dozen dresses, and unfortunately none of them fit or looked awesome. But there's more there to try on. I will for sure go back. But, I did find a pair of gloves (I can't find the ones I got from the $1 store) for $4 and a pack of wool socks to keep my tootsies warm in this frigid house.

When I was done there, it was close to when Justin would be leaving work to go to the Ale House, so I walked the few blocks to the restaurant. I sat at the bar drinking a water until he got there. He then informed me that we were eating with two other people - his coworker, Mike, and his wife. It was a really nice lunch.

Around 2:15, I left to pick up the kids from school. They had an appointment to get caught up on their vaccines at 3:15, so I had a little bit of time to waste. So we wasted it by driving around. Their actual appointment was really short, as they just had to get a shot or two. Josie was very brave, and didn't cry at all. Deuce put up a bit of a fight getting up on the table, but he ended up handling it really well.

I was going to take them out for a treat after their shots, but Josie had sugar cookies at school for her half birthday (Deuce had one after school too), and I had a little dessert (Justin and I shared an apple cobbler - yum) at the Ale House. So I suggested that we go to the American Science and Surplus store and get a cool new toy. Of course, they pick out really expensive things, but I allowed it. Josie got some sort of magic sand that's supposedly not messy. Ha. I don't believe it for a second. And Deuce got domino rally. Tomorrow we'll play with both and see how fun they are.

Since getting home late this afternoon, I've had a very relaxing evening. We had pizza for dinner(definitely not on my diet plan haha), and I've spend a lot of time just enjoying being quiet by myself. I think Justin and I are going to watch a show soon, but we'll see. I'm pretty comfortable here in our bed, and the TV for watching DVR is all the way downstairs. Haha

Tomorrow should be another good and full day, which I will post about tomorrow evening, hopefully!
