Family Game Night

Day 43. Today's grateful moment is brought to you by Family Game Night!

But first, my day. It was a pretty productive one. I didn't quite get accomplished everything I wanted to, but I definitely made progress. First of all, Justin took off work, so I only had to take Josie and Deuce to school this morning. Only having to get two kids out the door really makes a difference, especially since Margo and Piper are both pretty dependent. So, I dropped them off, and then was going to grab a few things at Walmart, before getting coffee and heading home. Unfortunately, I forgot to grab a bag of returns for Walmart, so I had to swing by the house first. I grabbed the bag, made my returns, and bought a few necessities, before going to Starbucks for coffee and morning buns for Justin and myself.

After breakfast, I wrote out my grocery list and made myself presentable while Justin loaded up the van with boxes and bags for donation. I grabbed a couple other bags of things needed to be returned to Dunham's and Kohl's. I then drove down 27th St... I first made an exchange at Dunham's, then dropped off everything at Salvation Army, made some returns at Kohl's, and then went to Aldi for my big biweekly grocery shopping trip.

By the time I got home, it was about 1:00. I fed the little ones lunch, and got them down for their naps. A short time later, I had to go pick up Josie and Deuce from school. One of the things I had wanted to do was go back to Retique to see if I could find a dress to wear tomorrow night. But I knew that I just didn't have the time or energy that afternoon.

We ended up having a pretty late dinner, and then afterwards decided to have an impromptu family game night. Since the kids' ages are varied, there aren't many games that cater to all four of them. But, one game we have is fun for everyone. Okay, it's definitely a little kid's game. It's called "Roll and Play" by Thinkfun. Basically, it's a big plush die with six different colors on it. There are also six categories of cards in six different colors. If it's not obvious, you roll the die, and whichever color lands up, that's what color card you pick. The categories are: counting, colors, emotions, actions, animal sounds, and body parts. The kids got a kick out of Daddy's participation. Piper loves throwing the die, but she's a little young for a lot of the activities on the cards. She did a good job at copying us as we showed her what to do though. If you're looking for a good game for toddlers and preschoolers, I highly recommend this one. If I remember correctly, we got this when Josie was little, and even though it doesn't get played with as often as say, magnatiles, it's still a family favorite.

And now, all six (if you count the dog) of my family members are asleep in the living room. Josie and Deuce are on the loveseat, Margo is on the rocking chair, and Justin, Piper and Carmen are on the couch. What should I do with myself now?!
