A Week of Gratitude
Monday. Day 53: I'm grateful for online sermons.
I looked up the church website of the pastor I met on Sunday, and they had several sermons online. I really enjoyed listening (throughout the week) to his sermons as I went about my days. Every one was encouraging and challenging.
Tuesday. Day 54: I'm grateful for chances to be a helper.
Today I helped out my close friend, Marie, who was in the process of moving, by watching her two boys and feeding them dinner. I wouldn't say that I'm always happy to babysit, but I want to be willing to help when it's needed.
Wednesday. Day 55: I'm thankful for this:
Thursday. Day 56: Today is Justin's birthday, and I'm just grateful that he's my husband.
I'm hoping he has many, many more birthdays with me. I know this sounds cliché, but time is really flying by. We have celebrated nine of his birthdays together! Oh, and I'm also thankful for the delicious chocolate cake I made. It is so yummy!
Friday. Day 57: I'm thankful for nostalgia and cheesy shows.
Yes I'm talking about Fuller House. Justin and I had had plans to have his sisters and their fiancés over, but we had to reschedule. Knowing that Fuller House was going to be available on Netflix that day, I decided to invite my friend, Apryl over to watch it with me. She brought her two kids and one of her daughter's friends to play while we sat upstairs in Justin and my room watching the first couple episodes.
The show is cute and corny and much like I remembered it. Although, when I was a kid, I probably didn't realize how sappy it was. The first episode had almost all of the original cast, which was fun. We'll see how the rest of the episodes are.
Saturday: Day 58: I'm thankful for a busy, but not hectic day. And Bri Thundercloud.
This morning, I made blueberry buckle and scrambled eggs for breakfast, got the kitchen cleaned up, prepared dinner (crockpot chicken tacos), packed the swim bag, and packed lunches for the kids. Justin helped me by getting all the kids dressed. When we were all ready, the kids and I went to swim lessons, while Justin stayed home and rested. (He was going to be on duty in the afternoon/evening, so I let him have some alone time earlier in the day.) While Josie and Deuce did their swim lessons, Margo and Piper played in the gym with their friends, Maelyn and Tenley. And I sat and chatted with my friends, Bri and Matt.
After swim lessons, the kids and I ate the lunches that I'd packed, while I drove to Noah's (Matt and Bri's son, and Maelyn and Tenley (and Ari)'s older brother) basketball game. It's cute watching the little kids - first and second graders - running up and down the court and attempting to shoot. They don't keep score, so it's more about learning how to play and practicing teamwork. My kids watched for a bit, and then they went off to play and color.
After the game, we went home, and I got ready for the evening. I left around 3:00 to head over to Bri's house. We were carpooling up to Cedarburg with Mo and Marie to celebrate Marie's birthday. Bri and I hung out for a while until the other two girls got to her house.
We met several other friends up there for dinner at Anvil. As usual conversation was great, and the food was delicious. I love my friends! (I also love food haha)
After dinner, a handful of us rushed to a place called Board & Brush. It's a little shop that makes signs out of wood boards. When you sign up online, you pick out the design you want (they have limited selections, depending on the class) and all the details. Then, before the class, they have stencils made. We got there a little late, since dinner took longer than expected, but we were able to jump right in. First, we sanded the boards, then we distressed them with hammers and meat tenderizers. It was really loud for a few minutes! After that, each person picked out a stain, and stained the boards. After the boards were dry, we had to attach them to two smaller board on the back and put on the hanging wire. Then, we got to put on the sticker stencil, which was a bit tricky. Although, Jones is a pretty easy name, unlike Thundercloud. Haha Then we picked the paint color - I went with boring white - and painted the stencil. Then, let it dry, sanded again, and waxed.
I'm really happy with how it turned out! Here's the finished project!
Sunday: Day 59. Since it's Sunday morning, and I'm not likely to come back and post again, I'm decided to be preemptively grateful. Today, and I am going to be grateful for a productive and/or lazy day with my kids. Or maybe I'll be grateful for meatloaf, which is for dinner. No matter what, I'm going to be blessed. But now, I need to get ready for church!

After Board & Brush, the five of us (Marie, Mo, Bri, Apryl and I) headed home. By the way, we were squished into Bri's old Sunfire. I was stuck in the middle. We cranked up the music and felt like we were in high school for a minute. Or maybe, like the ladies on the movie Moms Night Out. Anyway, it was fun. We dropped Apryl off, then went to Bri's, where our vehicles were.
Then, I took Bri and Marie to Marie's new house. It was cool seeing it for the first time. She and other have done a lot of work sprucing it up. It still needs some carpet laid and other things done before they can get settled. Bri and I left her there, and then rushed to Leon's. We got our treats, and then I drove back to her house to drop her off, and finally headed home.
I stayed up for a bit longer chatting with Justin about how his evening had been, and then I dragged myself up to bed. What an awesome, blessed day with my friends!
