Today Kept Me on My Toes
First of all, can I just say that I really like waking up to my kid alarm instead of the one on my phone. My kid alarm usually starts off with snuggles, and eventually turns into, "Mom, get up, I'm hungry." One drawback of the kid alarm is that it's not consistent, but generally it goes off after 7.
This morning was pretty standard. There was some cleaning and laundry and playing involved.
Then right before noon, my day kicked into high gear. I got all the kiddos in the van and took Deuce to school. Then Josie and I did school. The subject this week is the moon, in case you were interested.
Justin got home early, so I was able to pick up Deuce without the other three munchkins. But, I had to hurry home to drop him off at home and pick up Josie to take her to her first Daisy meeting! It was nice for Josie to see some of her classmates from K4 last year. One little girl named Kaylie was very sweet. When she saw Josie, she was like, "hi Josie! Remember me?" And later, while we were sitting, she said, "It's very nice to see you again, Josie." When prompted to reply, Josie smiled and said, "thanks." haha
I'm really hoping that Josie connects with a few of these girls. I would really like for her to have friends that are closer to her age. Right now, the only girls that she talks about and/or plays with are at least a year older or younger. I don't think age is a big deal when it comes to friendship as kids get older. But early on, I think Josie would really benefit with having girl friends her age.
I'm looking forward to a fun year for her! I'm not sure exactly what to expect, but I think each meeting (which will be twice a month) will have a different theme/lesson, and then there will be crafts and/or activities associated with the theme. And of course badges and cookies will be involved. Today Josie made a bracelet.
When Josie's meeting ended, we had to rush home again so I could drop off Josie and pick up Piper. The two of us drove out to Brookfield (a city about 30 minutes away) for a haircut. A friend from church did it, and I think he did a pretty good job. What do you think?
After my haircut, the plan was to come home again and gather the rest of my family for bible study at church. When I realized the traffic was too heavy, and that there was no way I'd get home in time, I asked Justin if he minded if I grabbed a bite to eat and went to bible study without him and the other three kids. It really didn't make sense to drive west 30 minutes, go east 30 minutes to immediately turn around and go west 25 minutes.
So, I ended up going to the restaurant that every health conscious person would choose for dinner: Arby's. Beef & Cheddar meal, medium. Substitute a Jamocha shake for the drink. That's how I roll. And while I was in the drive thru, Justin texted me, saying he wanted me to stop at Culver's on the way home and get him a triple scoop of the flavor of the day! Dang it! Now, I like a Jamocha shake as much as the next person, but when given a choice, I'd choose a dish of frozen custard every time. Well, unless the flavor of the day is raspberry or some other fruity crap. But even then, I'd get a concrete mixer. Mmmm.
Well, Piper and I went to church. Bible study was good. We discussed Matthew 20:29-34 and the beginning of chapter 30. Then after the study, I had some time of chatting and visiting with many of my favorite ladies. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I only had one diaper for Piper, which she destroyed. Thank God she didn't get any on her onesie, because I did not have an extra. Also, thank God for my friend Raven who had a spare (cloth) diaper to lend me!
After stopping at Culver's, Piper and I finally made it home. She fell asleep on the way home, so I left her in her car seat. She woke up while I was blogging, and I took her out and lay her on the floor. This was about 11ish. And this is what she looked like:
This is pretty much what she always looks, especially when you smile at her. I just can't get enough of her face!
I'm hoping tomorrow is a little slower. I love busy days now and then, but I much prefer a chill schedule!
