A Week in July

Day 191. I'm thankful for a fun Sunday afternoon!

During the game on Saturday, Angie texted me, asking if Justin and Deuce would be interested in going to another Brewers' game on Sunday with David and Owen. After some thought, Justin agreed to it. They guys took Justin's jeep and left for the game right after church. Here are a few pics from their time at Miller Park.

Meanwhile the girls and I and Angie and the rest of her crew grabbed a quick lunch, and came here for a backyard swimming party! Sorry, no pictures of our shenanigans.

Day 192. I'm thankful for a fun and tiring day with the kids and Lindsay!

This morning, first, the kids and I worked together to get the whole house tidy. Then I got them all washed up. Next, we got packed up and headed toward Lindsay's house, which is up in Jackson. We actually met at Lammscapes, which is a landscaping and plant store near Lindsay's house. There was a cute gazebo on the property where she took most of the photos. Here's one of each kid from my perspective.

After pics, we went to Lindsay's place where her fiance Jon had lunch made. We ate, the kids fed the chickens, and then we set off for Regner Park.

Regner Park is in West Bend, and it has a large swimming pond, a splash pad next to it, and three play grounds nearby. Plus there's a building with restrooms, changing rooms and a concession stand. It's got everything you need for a fun summer day! And we had a great time swimming, splashing, swinging, sand "castle" building! I had left my phone in my vehicle for most of the time, but I did get one photo taken at Regner.

Day 193. This moment.

Day 194. A library visit and a magic show!

On Wednesday, we decided to go up to the Forest Home Library in Milwaukee (it's the one closest to our house, but not the best one around) to turn in the kids' Super Reader forms and check out more books. Josie and Deuce have done an awesome job with their reading, and got all their summer reading finished already! (Of course they will read more throughout the summer, but they got their prizes - mostly coupons and a free book.)

While we were picking out books and playing, someone from the library informed us that there was going to be a magic show soon. So we decided to stay for that. It was really entertaining for the kids - lots of giggling and "whoa"s. Josie got picked to be an assistant, and she was so sweet. When he asked her for her name, she said "Josephine" so fast that he couldn't understand her, so I had to clarify her name. Here's one shot of her "helping",

Day 195. I'm grateful for a play date with Grandma Vicki.

Vicki and I scheduled a day for the kids and I to go over there for lunch and playing. Hot dogs and macaroni and cheese... and of course marshmallows were on the menu. She is Grandma Marshmallow afterall, so it wouldn't be a proper visit without them. We played with bubbles, water guns, basketball (Deuce and I played P.I.G.) outside. And inside, the kids played with a tunnel and tent, blocks, and some crafty things that Vicki had bought them. I know they all had a great time, and it's always nice to sit and talk with Vicki.

Day 196. I'm thankful for another play date with friends.

This time my friend Sarah and her three younger kiddos came over for an afternoon play date. I honestly don't remember any interesting details, so I'd say it was a pretty typical play date.

Day 197. I'm thankful and ready for a new fitness adventure!

On Saturday afternoon I went to a couple different athletic stores looking for a new swimsuit - one that would be good for lap swimming - as well as a pair of goggles and a swim cap. I'm happy to say that I found a suit that I feel comfortable in. And the goggles and swim cap I got go very well with my suit. I'm excited to start swimming next week!
