A Relaxing Weekend
It's a little after 8 on Monday morning, and I'm slowly waking up with my coffee. I'm thinking about this past weekend, feeling thankful...and honestly, a bit forgetful. Why is it so easy for me to forget something that happened like two days ago? haha
Anyway, on Friday around lunchtime, my friend Laura and her children came over for a play date. I love play dates, because (usually) the kids run off and do their thing while the grownups get to talk. Laura's son, Ben and my son are best buddies, so we have pretty frequent play dates. We always have good conversations together.
Friday evening, I watched my friend, Rebecca's two children while she visited a friend in the hospital. It was a last minute thing, but I was happy to help. Plus her kids are 6 and 4, Josie and Deuce's ages! The kids played nicely together for awhile, and then I plopped them in front of the TV for a movie.
On Saturday, I spent a good portion of the day grocery shopping. I've been getting the bulk of our food at Aldi. I do wish that I could do one stop shopping, but I have to accept that that is not usually a realistic expectation. After I got the majority of groceries at Aldi, I swung by the house to drop off the frozen food, and then drove to Outpost. There is a reason I don't shop at Outpost. Holy expensive.
Aside: I read recently that one of the (many) reasons that people are overweight is because food is much cheaper than it used to be. Decades ago, food made up like 40% of a person/family's expenses, and now it's more like 10%. Even though I complain about the cost of food at Outpost, I wonder how that would affect my weight. I mean, if we had to spend more money on food, and therefore, less on other things, would I eat simply to nourish my body and for no other reason?
Don't worry, I still have no interest in paying $10 for a bag of clementines when I can get them for $5 at Aldi. It's just something interesting to think about.
Anyway, after getting a few overpriced items at Outpost, I made one more stop at Walmart for a handful of things I couldn't find at Aldi. On the way between the stores, I had a nice phone chat with my mom.
While I shopped the day away, my sweet little Piper napped in her car seat. I had tried to get her to go to sleep before I left, but Justin suggested I just take her with me. She got a nice long snooze, and I got to hear lots of compliments about how cute she is.
Later on Saturday afternoon, Justin took Deuce to get his hair cut, and came home with a ton of ice cream, (Yes I ate plenty my fair share this weekend, thanks to that saboteur.) because it was on sale. 80/
The rest of Saturday was pretty uneventful. That means, I can't remember anything else. haha
I had already planned to skip church on Sunday, because I've been potty training Margo, and she's not ready for prime time. Justin was going to take Josie and Deuce, but decided to stay home and have a family day instead.
It was a very lovely and lazy day. Lovely, because I was home with my family. Lazy, because I didn't do any chores or even get dressed until after lunch. Justin and I played a couple games of Qwirkle, which was fun. One of the times we tried playing with the kids, but they weren't very interested.
Overall, potty training is going really well with Margo. She isn't 100%, but she wants to go in the potty, and she gets upset when she doesn't make it in time. Two and a half more days of strict potty training before we take a road trip to Illinois to visit Justin's family for Thanksgiving. I haven't decided how that's going to work, but I'll figure something out. 80)
