100 Things

Every so often I get the urge to purge. I get overwhelmed when there is too much stuff, and Christmas always brings more stuff - especially toys. In order to avoid the stress that overabundance brings to me, I'm going to get a head start on the clutter before it starts.

Not that long ago I read an ebook on minimalism. I like a lot of the ideas, but some are too out there for me. For example, the ideas that everything should be plain and the walls should be bare are silly to me. It's one thing to want few possessions. It's another to be a total dud. Well anyway, in this book, there was the "100 thing challenge." That challenge was to eliminate all but 100 of the most important items in the home. For a single person, this might be possible, but for a family of 6, not so much.

So, I'm going to do the "Reverse 100 thing challenge," which was also mentioned in that book. Instead of keeping only 100 things, I am going to purge 100 things. This weekend.

Some things I'm going to be selling, donating or tossing are:

Clothing
Toys
Books
Kitchen items
Knick knacks

Think I can do it?

I will update later this weekend with my results! 80)
