The Early Bird Wakes Up to Pee and Can't Go Back to Sleep
It's 6:40AM Ohio time, which means it's 5:40 Milwaukee time.
Notice how I used a state and a city? That's because there are no cities around here. My hometown is rur-ur-al. I mean, it's not that Minster is the smallest town; there are smaller around here. It's just that there are a lot of small towns around here, pretty much all surrounded by farmland. Dayton, if you've heard of it, is the closest city, about an hour away.
My parents' home is located right on a small lake called Lake Loramie. When they bought it, it was a small two bedroom, one bathroom cottage. After lots of renovating, it's a much larger two story, three bedroom, two bathroom house. I'm looking out the windows at the lake, watching the sun come up. Currently the sky is a combination of pastel blue and pink. The air is cool, but with a high in the 80s today, this breeze will be short lived.
As I expected, yesterday was a busy day. I got the house nice and tidy (not counting the upstairs where all the kids' toys are. I'm not Wonder Woman.), most of the laundry washed, and everyone packed up and ready to go. Two adults and four children sure require a lot of luggage, even for just a few days. I did, however, forget my hanging clothes. I have tendency to do that. Now I have to go shopping and get some new shirts. Bummer. ;0)
The drive itself was mostly tolerable. Piper was almost perfect, as usual. We got plenty of "Are we there yet?"s and "Stop touching me!"s. Also, I'm pretty sure that Josie practices the most annoying sounds in the world, and then performs them for us when there's no chance of escape. Thank God for DVD players in vehicles. A Goofy Movie and Beauty and the Beast gave Justin and me a little peace and quiet.
My whole family is still sleeping (not counting my parents, who were up as early as I was) upstairs. Even though we had the sleeping arrangements figured out before we came, we did not end up the way we had planned. Justin is alone on an air mattress, Josie and Deuce are in a bed, and I got stuck with Margo and Piper. Now that I think about it, maybe that's why I woke up so early. ;0)
My brother and sisters and families will get here this evening. And tomorrow is the first day of a two-day family reunion on my dad's side. It's going to get pretty rowdy before too long. I better enjoy this tranquility before it gets destroyed.
