Thankful for Another Blessed Week.
I'm noticing a trend...
Another week of things that made me grateful:
Day 67. A beautiful sunny day!
It was a really nice day on Monday! The kids played on the playground after school for quite a while. When we got home, all the kids and Carmen played in the backyard for a while. We are all really looking forward to spring, and even if we have to endure some more chilly weeks before it gets here, we'll appreciate the warm days when we get them!
Day 68. Progress on the girls' new bedroom and the guest room.
I did some furniture rearranging today. I started by moving all of Piper's things out of her room. Then I moved the guestroom furniture from that room into it's new place, which was Piper's room. Margo and Piper will be sharing what used to be the guestroom. We're going to paint the walls, put bunk beds in there, a new rug and curtains, and some other cute accents. The trickiest part will be keeping the girls out once we really start doing stuff in there. I'd moved their toys in their temporarily, but I may need to move them out in order to avoid the girls seeing their new room too soon. We are going to reveal it to them at their birthday party on April 2.
Justin and I had another Spanish class. We've agree that I'm going to move on to Spanish 2, but Justin won't. Part of the reason is timing. The class will be 7:30-9, which is too late for the kids to be out at a babysitter's.
Day 69. Picnic dinner.
Today was another nice day, like Monday and Tuesday. Overall, it was a pretty uneventful day, but the kids ate their pizza dinner outside together, which was cute.
Day 70. Breakfast. Raven. Daisies.
Thursday was a triple header of thankfulness.
I was invited to attend an executive breakfast for the Layton Boulevard West Neighbors. It was from 7-9, so I had to take Josie and Deuce to school early where they played at Camp Parkside (a big room for before and after school care). Basically it was a fundraiser/celebration of what happened in the last year. It was cool to be invited and learn a little more about the neighborhood we live in. LBWN is actually made up of three neighborhoods: Layton Park, Burnham Park, and Silver City. We live in Layton Park, but Layton Boulevard is also part of the Historic District. Anyway, it was a nice time, and I'm glad I went.
In the afternoon, after I got Margo and Piper down for their naps, I went to Raven's to give her a couple things and to pick up the exersaucer I'd lent her so I could lend it to someone else. But as usual, we sat and chatted while drinking a big mug of coffee. And as usual, our conversation was fruitful and beneficial.
Then I drove to Angie's house to drop off the exersaucer, thinking she was going to be home. David answered the door, and after talking for a couple minutes in the living room, I asked if she was with the baby. That's when I found out she was at Daisies. Total communication mishap. Oh well!
So I headed over to the school to check the status of the Daisy meeting. They were all just about to walk to the auditorium to practice "public speaking." Each girl had to say her name really loudly and then act out an animal for the others to guess. Josie was awesome. And then when the girls were all finished, the three brothers that were there took their turns too.
Day 71. Dinner with the siblings.
Friday evening, Justin's sisters, Lindsay and Alana, along with their fiancés, Jon and Ryan came over for dinner and hanging out. We had a pretty late dinner of pork chops, potatoes, and broccoli. Lindsay brought a delicious salad, and Alana brought three desserts: Red velvet and nutella cake, ice cream from Purple Door (Salted Caramel and Chocolate Whisky (yummy!)), and fruit and dip. We all enjoyed a little wine, had great conversation, and played a pretty fun(ny) card game called Exploding Kittens. I just learned that the artwork on the cards were illustrated by The Oatmeal. I thought there was something familiar about the drawings. Anyway, it was a good night!
Day 72. Last swim lesson and a dog walk.
Josie and Deuce had their last swim lesson of the season. Deuce passed his swim test to move on to Little Level 2, and Josie did not pass Level 1. To clarify, Little Level 1 is for kids 4-6, and Level 1 is for kids 6-14. Since Josie is 7, she had to do Level 1. I think they learn similar skills. Deuce is definitely more confident in the water than Josie. I am planning on putting her right back into swim lessons for the Spring season. Actually, we may put her in a semi-private class so she gets even more attention. I'm grateful that she's relatively comfortable in the water, but I want her to be a confident swimmer, and I know that she'll get there soon enough.
Later, while the other three members of my family were napping, I took the older two kids and the dog for a walk. It was obvious that it had been a while since Carmen had been walked, because she pulled a lot. I said "heel" like every 10 seconds it seemed. But by the end of the walk, she was staying by me much better. I really need to make a point to walk her more often now that it's getting warmer out.
Day 73. A typical Sunday.
Even though it's not very exciting, I'm thankful for typical Sundays. Church in the morning. Then lunch. Then cleanup and naptime. And of course the kids get some screen time. It's nice to have no plans on a Sunday, so we can just hang out with our family.
