Another 30 days of Summer - Slightly abbreviated

Day 198. I'm thankful for our church, even when it's a small crowd.

Day 199. I'm thankful for not drowning my first time swimming laps.

Day 200. I'm grateful for a beautiful day at South Shore Park with my friend Sarah and our kiddos.

Day 201. I'm happy that I doubled my distance in the pool.

Day 202. We enjoyed a fun afternoon with Angie and our kids at Chasing Tales, a children's indoor play place.

Day 203. I'm grateful for another dinner and relaxing evening with the Iwinskis.

Day 204. Morning screentime and an impromptu Betty Brinn Children's museum visit makes for a full and fun Saturday.

Day 205. We had friends, Donny and Porscha and their two little ones, from our old church come over for an early dinner. It was a very pleasant visit.

Day 206. I'm sure something interesting happened today, but I can't think of it at the moment.

Day 207. Today was my first small group Spanish "class" with two other ladies and an instructor (the same one who teaches Conversational Spanish classes through the Milwaukee Rec department, which I've taken) at Colectivo, a coffee shop in Bay View.

Day 208. The kids and I had a fun time at Holler Park Pool with Angie and the kids... until some kid pooped in the pool. Then we played at the playground for a little bit before heading home.

Day 209. I enjoyed a nice evening with friends, doing church at the Prices' house: communion, singing, praying, talking...

Day 210. I'm thankful for a safe, albeit long, ride to my parents' house in Ohio. It poured buckets, so it wasn't the easiest or fastest drive. Also, thankful that Angie let me borrow her romper, which got me lots of compliments.

Day 211. My sister Meg's baby shower and the Farno family reunion were loads of fun.

Day 212. We had a great day with family, eating yummy food, hanging out, celebrating Josie's birthday early.

Day 213. I'm thankful for a slightly more pleasant drive home. No rain, and we got home a lot faster.

Day 214. Today I had two Spanish classes. One at Colectivo, and the other at church. I want as much exposure as I can get!

Day 215. Other than swimming, I don't really remember what happened.

Day 216. Judy's in town, which always means extra free time for Justin and me, and lots of fun and attention for the kiddos.

Day 217. I'm thankful for Josie, my firstborn, who is 8 years old today. Justin and I took her out for breakfast to Mad Rooster Cafe, our new favorite breakfast place, to celebrate. That afternoon we had the wedding rehearsal, and in the evening, Justin and I went to Bar Louie for the rehearsal dinner.

Day 218. Lindsay's wedding was a blast! The kids were adorable and very well-behaved. And that night I danced the night away in a new dress.

Day 219. Josie opened her gifts that morning. She got lots of coloring supplies from Grandma Jones, a snowcone machine from Grandpa Jones and Grandma Vicki, and a Cinderella LEGO castle from us. She loved everything she got.

Judy came with us to church this morning. We had a combined birthday celebration for Josie and David with a brat cookout and cake. That afternoon, Justin's dad, his cousin, aunt, and grandma all stopped over to get a tour of the house. That evening, Justin and I went out for burgers at Oscar's Pub & Grill. Yum.

Day 220. Josie, Deuce and I went to the Wisconsin State Fair with Angie, Owen and Daniela for a few hours. We ate greasy food, like a funnel cake and a bbq pork stuffed donut (my favorite!), watched a couple of kid shows, and let the kids go on a few rides before heading home. Then we had to take Judy to the train station.

That night, Josie had a little birthday sleepover with Daniela and another girl from school named Lola. I think they had a great time.

Day 221. I'm grateful for another evening of Spanish classes, even if I have to rush around.

Day 222. I swam today. Not feeling super confident about my skills or endurance, but happy to be plugging away.

Day 223. I love Thursday night church.

Day 224. My mom and dad came to visit for the weekend!

Day 225. I'm thankful for my parents taking the kids to the swimming pool, while I had some time to myself at home. The kids are having a great time with them playing games, doing puzzles, reading...

Day 226. I taught the first Sunday School class at church today. We talked about the Beatitudes. My parents came to church too, and really seemed to enjoy it. That evening, Justin and I got a babysitter, and then went out with my parents to Odd Duck for dinner - delicious as always, and my parents insisted on paying. We took them to Purple Door for dessert. I had a double scoop of chocolate whiskey (I promise it's good!) and toasted coconut. Mmm mmm.

Day 227. My parents left this morning, but not before my dad rearranged the guest room, put the mirror on the dresser, and hung the valances. I forgot to mention that he cleaned the outside of our dining room windows (which requires a ladder to do from the outside (my mom did the inside)), which are amazingly clean, and with Justin's help, fixed one of our recliner's that had broken. Also, my mom helped this weekend in the front flower gardens by weeding, planting a couple new plants and watering.

While Justin went to jiu jitsu, I took the kids to Humboldt Park beer garden to help celebrate Owen's 9th birthday. We had ice cream cake, the kids played at the playground and in the grassy areas, and the adults talked. We stayed until dark.

Day 228. I'm finally caught up! Today, I'm going to take the kids to church at 2 to help sort through some donated clothes. Then, help a gentleman fill out some applications, then take the kids to Angie's around 4:15, so she can watch them while I go to my small group Spanish class at 4:30; then pick them up at 5:35, and take them back to church. I will quickly feed them before my other Spanish class starts at 6.
