Park, Plaque, Play, Pick up!

Today was one of those "go-go-go!" days.

Clothes on. Eat breakfast. Brush teeth. Put on shoes and off to... the dentist! Well, first the park.

Deuce and Josie finally had their first dental checkups and cleanings today! Since I didn't want to take all four kids to the dentist's office, I brought Margo and Piper to the park where my friend, Nicole watched them with several other moms and kids.

After I dropped the little ones off, I took the older two to the dentist's office. Deuce went first, and he did great! His four front bottom teeth are going to be falling out really soon according to the X-ray. Justin came and picked him up and took him to school while I stayed with Josie for her appointment. The X-rays weren't easy for Josie. She had a mini meltdown, so we decided to give them a try at the end of her checkup. She did great with getting her teeth cleaned, and then finally got the X-rays accomplished at the end. The dentist thinks that Josie will probably need braces someday, which was not surprising. Her teeth are a bit crazy. I'm sure as her other teeth come in we'll get a better idea of what kind of work she'll need.

By the time her appointment was over, it was almost 12:30. We quickly went through a drive-thru for a bribery lunch (How else was I going to get her to do the X-rays? haha) and headed to the park.

We ate lunch, and then while the kids played, I stood and talked to some of my mommy friends. It's my favorite part of play dates, of course! While we were there, Piper practiced standing a lot. She is so close to walking! Oh, and she love the swing! We left for home around 2:30.

I put Piper down for a nap when we got home, and then I got to cleaning up the breakfast dishes and other clutter on the main floor before working on dinner. Paleo meatloaf, baked sweet potatoes and green beans.

Meanwhile, Justin had gotten home with Deuce (Josie and I skipped homeschool today due to being out and about for the better part of the day) and was working on his jeep in the driveway. Deuce really wanted to play on his big wheel out front, and he's only allowed to do that when I'm supervising, since we live on a very busy street. While dinner was cooking,  I sat in the front yard with Piper, who had recently woken up, and watched Deuce zoom up and down the driveway and up and down the sidewalk. Margo ran after him, her awesome hair flowing behind her the whole time. I'm pretty sure Josie was inside reading somewhere.

Then we ate dinner. And since Justin had a bad headache, he went to take a nap. I washed the dishes and mostly cleaned the dining room before giving all four kids showers. That's always a production in itself. And a workout!

After pajamas were all donned, we got to picking up the house. My friend Marie introduced my kids to a visual timer app, and it really helps them get excited and motivated to clean up. I set the timer for anywhere between 2 and 10 minutes, and encourage the kids to beat the timer! We got the living room, dining room, stairway, hallway, guest room, and both of their bedrooms very tidy in like 20 minutes. That also felt like a workout, but it's so nice to go to bed and wake up to a tidy home.

Rounding out the night: I brushed all four kids' teeth, put the three older ones in bed, prayed, gave hugs and kisses, nursed Piper, and put her in bed before sitting down shortly after 10pm to write this blog.

I'd say we had a full day! And I am TIRED!
